3. Shai Hope
The West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Shai Hope will look to make his IPL debut this year. But due to his sub-par batting displays in T20Is for the Caribbean team, he may not grab the eyes of the franchise owners in the mini-auction. The left-handed batter in 19 T20I appearances has smashed only 304 runs with two half-centuries at a miserable average of 17.88.
This year, playing for Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League, he played some fine knocks with his bat. However, those innings won't make him credible enough to become a part of any franchises in the IPL, which is much more competitive than CPL.
The 29-year-old West Indies cricketer will face stern competition from other wicketkeepers too in the auction. With the participation of Phil Salt, Nicholas Pooran, Heinrich Klaasen, Litton Das, and Kusal Medis, he may not be the best option for the franchises to choose among wicketkeeper-batters.
