IPL 2023: Best starting playing XI of Rajasthan Royals (RR) after mini auction

In the recently concluded Indian Premier League 2023 auction, Rajasthan Royals (RR) purchased some important players to solidify their team for the 2023 season. Last year, the franchise ended their campaign as runners-up, losing to Gujarat Titans. In the entire competition, the domination of the Royals was witnessed as their top-performers Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal won both Orange Cap and Purple Cap respectively. 

At the auction, the management’s objective was to fill some gaps that could’ve undermined RR’s next year’s campaign. After releasing non-performing names last month, RR had INR 13.2 crore purse left. Of that amount, they spent INR 9.85 crore to buy some names that could prove valuable for them in the next edition. With these buys, the franchise will look to emerge as the most influential side in the next year’s tournament.

1. Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler was the most successful batter in the last edition with 863 runs in 17 matches, at a strike rate of 149.05. The batter also notched up four centuries and became a joint record-holder with Virat Kohli, hitting the most centuries in a single edition. In the next season too, the franchise will bank on him to get explosive starts.

This year was amazing for the English cricketer as he delivered the T20 World Cup trophy to his national team with his captaincy. With the bat, he looked aggressive scoring 462 runs in 15 T20Is, at an impeccable strike rate of 160.41, with four half-centuries.

In the next edition of the tournament, his role will be crucial for RR as he will be the senior batter due to his immense experience. After getting incredible numbers with his bat in the last season, the franchise will expect him to play match-winning knocks in the upcoming tournament and help the team to lift the trophy for the second time after 15 years.
