IPL 2023: Best XI of released players
Ahead of the mini-auction, the franchises have taken stern decisions by removing the names of non-performing players from their retention list.
2. Mayank Agarwal
Mayank Agarwal has joined the list of released players as the Punjab Kings have decided to part ways with him after having an unsuccessful 2022 season as a skipper and player. In the last season, Agarwal’s bat remained quiet as the batter scored only 196 runs in 13 matches with a dismal average of 16.33.
As a skipper also, he failed to deliver fine results to the franchise as the team under his leadership ended in the sixth position and was unsuccessful in qualifying for the playoffs in the last edition of the marquee tournament. But Agarwal who has huge experience in the league would be able to play fine knocks with his skills in the future.
The 31-year-old has been playing IPL since 2011 and he has racked up 2327 runs in 113 matches with his best score of 106 against Rajasthan Royals in 2020. In 2020 and 2021, he had the best phase in the league by scoring 424 and 441 runs respectively. Looking at his performance in back-to-back seasons, the Punjab Kings franchise appointed him their captain for 2022.
