The defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) will look to continue their winning juggernaut in Indian Premier League 2023 as they prepare themselves to lock horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday, May 2 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The Hardik Pandya-led side registered their third consecutive win beating Kolkata Knight Riders by seven wickets in their previous fixture.
GT are once again having a great season as they’re ranked on the top spot in the IPL points table with six wins from eight matches. In the second half of the league stage, they will look to maintain their position in the top two and gear up for the knockout stages of the tournament. Despite below-par outings from DC in the tournament so far, GT are unlikely to take them lightly and will once again field their strongest playing XI to beat them.

Here's Gujarat Titans’ predicted XI against Delhi Capitals:
Openers: Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha (wk)
Shubman Gill continued his rich vein of form against KKR with a splendid knock of 49 from 35 balls. The 23-year-old has been exceptional in giving great starts to his side this season as he’s the leading run scorer for GT, having 333 runs to his name from eight innings at an average of 41.62 and a strike rate of 142.30 with three half-centuries. Gill will look to add another good score to his name against Delhi Capitals.
Wriddhiman Saha departed cheaply after scoring just ten in the previous game vs KKR. Saha’s highest score this season came against Lucknow Super Giants where he scored a splendid 47 off 37 balls in a low-scoring affair. The wicketkeeper-batter has scored 151 runs in eight innings at an average of 18.87 and a strike rate of 130.17. Having got dismissed cheaply against KKR, Saha will look to make amends against Delhi in the upcoming game.
Middle order: David Miller, Abhinav Manohar, Rahul Tewatia
David Miller once again played a brilliant knock of 32* off 18 balls against Kolkata and helped his team chase down the target of 180 with 13 balls to spare. The southpaw has been brilliant in the middle order for Gujarat as he’s scored 180 runs in seven innings at an average of 60 and a strike rate of 151.26. The 33-year-old will be eager to put up another strong show with the bat against Delhi.
Abhinav Manohar didn’t get a chance to bat vs KKR, however, his brilliant knock of 42 off 21 balls against Mumbai Indians helped him seal his place in the team as a fierce striker of the ball. The 28-year-old has batted at a strike rate of 182.97 in the season so far and will look to wreak havoc against Delhi if the opportunity presents itself.
Rahul Tewatia has proven his finishing prowess time and again in the tournament and has been an invaluable asset to GT. The southpaw has batted at a strike rate of 179.16 smashing two fours and four sixes in his brief stay out in the middle. Tewatia will once again hope to prove another brilliant finish to his side vs DC.
All-Rounders: Hardik Pandya (c), Vijay Shankar
Captain Pandya once again didn’t have a good game against Kolkata as he was hammered for 34 runs in three overs and could only score 26 off 20 with the bat. The 29-year-old has looked off-colour this season and will be eager to turn things around against DC.
Vijay Shankar has shut the mouth of critics with his incredible performances this season. He played a magnificent knock of 51* off 24 balls against KKR to help his side chase down 180 with 13 balls to spare. The 32-year-old is the second-highest run-scorer for GT having 199 runs to his name in six innings at an average of 49.75 and a strike rate of 165.83 with two half-centuries. Shankar will look to continue his great form against Delhi.
Bowlers: Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, Mohit Sharma, Noor Ahmad
Rashid Khan had a forgettable outing vs KKR as he was hammered for 54 in his four-over spell. However, the wrist-spinner is having another good season as he’s the joint third-highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets in eight games at an average of 20 and an economy of 8.75.
Mohammed Shami had another good outing against KKR as he finished as the pick of the bowlers for his team having picked up 3 for 33 in his four-over spell. Shami is the joint fourth-highest wicket-taker of the season so far with 13 wickets to his name in eight innings at an average of 18.14 and an economy of 7.61. The fast bowler will be eager to once again pick wickets at the top against DC.
Mohit Sharma only bowled one over against KKR giving away 12 runs. However, the 34-year-old has had a remarkable comeback into IPL after three years. The right-arm seamer has already put up two match-winning performances in the tournament and will be eager to put up a third one against DC.
Noor Ahmad once again bowled an incredible spell of 2/21 in four overs against KKR. The 18-year-old has done an exceptional job after replacing Alzarri Joseph and has picked eight wickets in four matches at an average of 13.12 and an economy of 7.32. The young wrist spinner will hope to bamboozle the struggling batting unit of DC in the upcoming fixture.
