Gujarat would look to carry on the winning momentum and conquer Delhi Capitals in the coming clash. As Hardik Pandya & Co. bid to bring their A-game into play against Delhi, let us look at the playing XI they can come up with.
Here's Gujarat Titans’ predicted XI against Delhi Capitals
Openers: Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill
Wriddhiman Saha has been a proven performer in the lucrative T20 tournament. He was sensational in the last season and scored 317 runs in 11 games at a strike rate of 122.39. The ace batter has taken the attack to the opposition and provided Gujarat Titans with brisk starts.
Saha did the same in the previous game against Chennai Super Kings and scored 25 runs off 16 deliveries. Coming to the wicketkeeper-batter’s opening partner Shubman Gill, the dashing stroke maker has tormented batters with his marauding bat and piled on runs for fun.
The ace batter was in pristine touch in the inaugural game of the ongoing IPL edition and hammered the CSK bowlers all around the park. He notched up 63 runs off 36 deliveries. Shubman would again look to display his class in the coming game.
Middle Order: Vijay Shankar, David Miller
Vijay Shankar had a dismal outing in the 15th edition of the cash-rich league and could manage only 19 runs in four games. Despite his poor showing, Gujarat retained him for IPL 2023. The 32-year-old repaid the faith of the defending champions and played a vital knock of 27 runs off 21 balls in the encounter against CSK. Shankar would look to carry on the good work for Titans.
Besides Vijay, Gujarat will also have the services of David Miller in the middle order. The Proteas batter has been a marauder with the bat and has knocked the wind out of top-quality bowling attacks with his flamboyant stroke play. He was sensational with the bat in the last IPL season and plundered 481 runs in 16 games for Hardik Pandya & Co.
Miller has been in a rich vein of form of late and is coming into the contest having played a blistering knock of 91 runs off 61 balls in the third ODI against the Netherlands. The destructive batter would be itching to stamp his authority in the ongoing season of the cash-rich league.
All-rounders: Hardik Pandya(c), Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan
Hardik Pandya is one of the finest all-rounders that Indian cricket has ever produced. He has established his supremacy in the Indian Premier League, decimating bowling attacks for fun and chipping in with regular wickets.
Also, the 29-year-old has been an inspirational captain and led Gujarat Titans to glory in IPL 2022. He would look to be at his best in the coming game.
Gujarat also have Rahul Tewatia in their repertoire. Tewatia has been entrusted to finish games for the side and he has played the role to perfection. Also, he is a wily customer with the ball and can chip in with crucial overs. In the game against CSK, he showed his batting might and stayed till the end to take his team across the line.
Barring Hardik and Tewatia, Gujarat possess Rashid Khan, who has been a giant of a player in the T20 circuit. In the encounter against the MS Dhoni-led side, the Afghanistan cricketer showed the cricket fraternity why he is so highly rated. Rashid bamboozled batters with his variations and registered stellar figures of 4-0-26-2. Also, he was incredible with the bat and played a match-winning cameo of 10* runs off three balls.
Bowlers: Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Shami, Joshua Little, Yash Dayal
In the presence of Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Shami, Joshua Little and Yash Dayal, Gujarat Titans have a formidable fast-bowling line-up. Alzarri Joseph is known to rattle batters with his fiery pace and can wreak havoc with the ball.
When Gujarat clashed against CSK, Joseph did a great job with the ball and took the prized wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja. He would look to put up a show with the ball in the upcoming game.
Talking about Shami, the Indian pacer has made the ball talk at the start of the innings and has been Gujarat’s tone-setter with the ball. He was magnificent in the previous and ended the game with super figures of 4-0-29-2. The ace pacer would look to yet again display his class in the encounter against Delhi Capitals.
Coming to Little, the Irish pacer is known to strangle batters with his variations. However, he did not a have great IPL debut and leaked 41 runs in four overs against Chennai. The left-arm pacer would look to put up an improved bowling display in the coming game. Last but not the least, GT have Yash Dayal, who has shown a lot of promise in the IPL arena. He would look to make a mark with his performance in the clash on Tuesday.
