1. Vidhwath Kaverappa
For the Karnataka bowler Vidhwath Kaverappa, 2022 was an incredible year as he got rewarded for his exceptional performance in the 2022-23 season. At the IPL auction, Punjab Kings (PBKS) picked the young gun for his base price of INR 20 lakh. In the ongoing domestic season, Kaverappa looked amazing with the white ball.
The youngster clinched 18 scalps in eight matches of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022-23. With these bowling numbers, he became the second-leading wicket-taker in the tournament. The 23-year-old continued his form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy too, and fetched 17 wickets in eight matches at an economy of 3.53.
Considering his spectacular bowling displays, PBKS didn’t hesitate to sign him for the forthcoming IPL edition. However, he could’ve become a better deal for DC as they invested big money in Mukesh Kumar, who was economical for Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022-23. Compared to Kumar, Kaverappa's recent figures are superior in the white-ball format.
