2. Daniel Sams
Last year, Mumbai Indians (MI) roped in the Australia pacer Daniel Sams at INR 2.6 crore. In the initial matches, he was horrendous with the ball picking up only one wicket at an expensive economy. Witnessing his back-to-back flop shows, MI dropped him from the squad for the next three contests. After making a comeback, he looked fine with the ball clinching his best IPL figures of 4.0-0-30-4 against the arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
The 30-year-old ended the season with 13 wickets in 11 matches at an economy of 8.81. In November 2022, MI released its retention list and Sams was not a part of it. In the upcoming tournament, the Aussie bowler will feature for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as he got sold to the franchise at his base price of INR 75 lakh.
However, Sams could have fit in perfectly in Gujarat Titans (GT) in place of Joshua Little. The 30-year-old is more experienced in league cricket than the Irish pacer. The New South Wales cricketer would’ve added variety to the GT’s pace attack with his left-arm bowling. With a new ball, he could’ve wreaked havoc on the opponents with his lethal swing bowling. In death overs too, he could be economical and hunt batters as well.
