IPL 2024: 3 Changes Mumbai Indians should make to get back to winning ways

Mumbai Indians suffered their 6^th loss of the IPL 2024 season when they lost to Delhi Capitals by 10 runs. While the batting was strong as usual the bowling yet again failed to do anything significant.

Jake Fraser-McGurk put the Mumbai Indians bowlers to the sword as he scored 84 runs from 27 balls. Abhishek Porel, Rishabh Pant, and Tristan Stubbs played their part as the home reached scored a huge 257 on the board.

Tilak Varma yet again was the top scorer as he hit 63 runs while Hardik Pandya and Tim David tried to stage a fight back. In the end, Mukesh Kumar held his nerve to deliver a win for his Delhi Capitals side.

3. Time to blood in Indian talents instead of Nuwan Thushara

It has been a horrific start to his IPL career for Sri Lankan star Nuwan Thushara. The 29-year-old has twice been hit for runs in his first two matches for Mumbai Indians. With 5 games to go and qualification still a mathematical chance, there is a need for change.

Naman Dhir or Shams Mulani who had played the first few games of the season should be given game time. The two players have the talent to bowl well and also score crucial runs with the bat in the middle-order.

2. Need more control with the ball in powerplay overs

In each of the games that Mumbai Indians has played this year, the first six overs have proved to be costly. In the game against Delhi Capitals, the MI bowlers conceded over 90 runs without picking a wicket.

Luke Wood, Gerald Coetzee, Jasprit Bumrah, and Kwena Maphaka are some of the bowlers who have faced the brunt of the opposition batters. With a weak bowling attack, the Mumbai Indians team need more control in the first six overs of the game.

1. Need to stop their overreliance on Jasprit Bumrah 

Jasprit Bumrah picked up just one wicket with the bat on Saturday against Delhi Capitals despite going for 18 runs in his 1^st over. Hardik Pandya has often turned to his main bowler when the going gets tough for his side.

Mumbai Indians have to make sure that their other bowlers step up to the mark and be counter. The overreliance on Jasprit Bumrah is taking a toll on the 30-year-old and with the T20I World Cup approaching this could turn out to be dangerous for Team India.
