Lucknow Super Giants played superb cricket to beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 28 runs on Tuesday. This was the third defeat in four games for Faf Du Plessis and his side that has pushed them to ninth in the table.
Quinton de Kock with 81 runs and some brutal hitting by Nicholas Pooran took LSG to a score of 181 on the board. The West Indian star hit five sixes including three successive big hits off Reece Topley.
Virat Kohli began well scoring 22 runs off 16 balls before he fell to Manimaran Siddharth. It was the Mayank Yadav show again as he picked 3/14 from four overs. The young pacer bowled the fastest ball of IPL 2024 which was clocked at 156.7 KPH.

Here are the three changes Royal Challengers Bengaluru need to make ahead of their next game against Rajasthan Royals
3. Replace Cameron Green with Will Jacks
The inconsistent form of Cameron Green is starting to hurt Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In the four games so far the 24-year-old has scored 63 runs with a best of 33 against KKR. Green has picked a mere two wickets which came in the season opener against CSK.
Will Jacks can be an X-Factor for his team as the Englishman is a brilliant all-rounder. The 25-year-old is an explosive batter at the top of the order and can also play as a finisher. His spin bowling can also be effective on wickets starting to keep slow and low.
2. Time to give Karn Sharma his chance instead of Mayank Dagar
Veteran spinner Karn Sharma has been one of the most underrated spinners in the IPL. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have made him sit on the bench after playing him in the first game. This strategy by RCB has left a lot of fans in disbelief and scratching their heads.
Mayank Dagar despite his decent domestic performances hasn’t lived up to his potential. The 27-year-old has just one wicket from the four games so far. The lack of variety in Dagar’s bowling is starting to hurt RCB, especially in the middle overs.
1. Middle-order needs to step up
So far only Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik have fired with the bat for RCB during IPL 2024 season. The form of Faf Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell has taken a huge nosedive for their team. With both their star batters for the year gone early the RCB batting seemed to suffer.
Rajat Patidar hasn’t shown the same form that he did two years and Anuj Rawat also struggled to get going on Tuesday. The lack of an experienced middle-order batter for RCB is starting to show. If they have to turn their season around Bengaluru need their middle-order to put up a strong showing on the board.
