An enthralling two-month period of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 ended with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lifting their third title. The tournament witnessed many players, both domestic and overseas, setting the big stage ablaze. It was interesting that none of the teams from the 2023 season playoffs made it into the knockouts this season.

Just as the teams failed to maintain consistency, some of the players who had performed well in the past editions also failed to shine this time. Over the years in the league's history, there have been very few players who have consistently performed in successive seasons. Their failure will leave the team in trouble and the fans disappointed.

Here are five players who were successful in IPL 2022 but flopped in the 2024 season:

5. Quinton de Kock (LSG)

Quinton de Kock joined Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the 2022 season and played a key role in their playoff qualification. With 508 runs from 15 matches, including a century, the South African opener finished as the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament.

His impressive numbers convinced the management to retain him for the next two seasons, but the southpaw failed to pay them back in the 2024 IPL. In 11 innings, De Kock scored just 250 runs at an average of 22.72 and a below-par strike rate of 134.40. Notably, LSG had one of the worst opening pairs this season, which certainly had a big impact on their performance.
