The Delhi Capitals (DC) will be up against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their third match of IPL 2024. In what is set to be an exhilarating match, the two teams will face off at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, which will be hosting its first IPL fixture in five years, on Sunday, March 31.
Both teams have had contrasting outcomes in their opening couple of matches, with the five-time champions appearing as the more confident side to enter the game. CSK won both their games comprehensively, with them defeating the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Gujarat Titans, respectively. DC, on the other hand, lost both their matches, with them not being able to defend the target set by them and falling short of the target set, respectively.
CSK are likely to go with an unbeaten squad into the fixture, with every department ticking the boxes. Meanwhile, DC are likely to make a few changes to their setup to rectify a few things in Match 13 of IPL 2024.

Here is DC's strongest playing XI for the match against CSK-
Openers: David Warner, Mitchell Marsh
David Warner is undoubtedly an IPL all-time great. The three-time Orange Cap winner is expected to have another successful season this time around. Having recently retired from Test cricket and ODIs, Warner is fully focused on the shorter format. With the return of Rishabh Pant, the southpaw does not have the pressure of captaincy as well, with him making up for the missed opportunity in the first match, having scored 29 off 21 followed by a 49 against RR.
A left-right opening combination is always advantageous, and in the last couple of matches, Warner was partnered by his compatriot Mitchell Marsh at the top. Playing the same number of deliveries (12) in both the games, Marsh gave good starts with scores of 23 and 20. After leaking 52 in his four overs, Marsh didn't bowl in the second game against RR. However, considering the fact that he's been a valuable asset with the ball, especially in the 20-over format, he will be expected to unleash his best in the upcoming clash.

Middle-Order: Yash Dhull, Rishabh Pant (C & WK), Abishek Porel, Tristan Stubbs
With underwhelming scores of 3(7) and 0(2) in the two games so far, Ricky Bhui seems to be going through a rough patch, and there's a high probability of him getting replaced by 21-year-old Yash Dhull.
Rishabh Pant has got off to a slow start according to his own towering standards, however with him recovering from his injury, more mentally than physically, he is expected to take some time to gradually return to his best.
Abishek Porel, who came in as an Impact Player in both of DC's matches, made a consequential impact in DC's first game, smashing his way to a 10-ball 32, although he couldn't make it big in the second. It's expected that DC's team management will persist with him, though.
South African batter Tristan Stubbs delivered the goods against RR, albeit in a losing cause. The team management is likely to back him going forward, and as a result, the youngster likely to gain a vast amount of confidence from his knock.

All-Rounders: Axar Patel, Sumit Kumar
Axar Patel is currently one of the finest all-rounders going around in Indian cricket and a key cog in the mechanism of the Capitals. The left-arm spinner is not only adept at providing crucial breakthroughs, but also capable of contributing valuable runs in the lower-middle order. His batting prowess occasionally suggests he could handle a higher position in the line-up.
After having a bad day in the office in his maiden IPL game, scoring just 2 off 9 and giving 19 in eight deliveries, the Sumit Kumar, the other all-rounder in DC didn't get an opportunity to express himself in either department, even though he was started in the XI.

Bowlers: Anrich Nortje, Mukesh Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav
With the duo of Mukesh Kumar and Anrich Nortje both not featuring in the curtain-raiser for DC, both of them had forgettable outings against RR, with the former and latter ending with almost identical figures of 1/49 and 1/48 in their four overs, respectively. Despite this, the team management is expected to back the bowlers, with both of them having enough in their arsenal to make a strong comeback in the upcoming match vs CSK.
Kuldeep Yadav's journey to becoming one of the premier spinners has been truly inspiring. While with KKR, he faced challenges finding consistent form and was often overlooked. However, a positive change came when he joined DC in 2022, where he has since become an integral part of the team. In the 2022 edition, the left-arm wrist-spinner claimed 21 wickets in 14 games, and last year, he secured 10 wickets with an economy rate of less than 7.50, showcasing his enhanced prowess.
