IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals' strongest predicted playing XI against Lucknow Super Giants, Match 26

Delhi Capitals (DC) will be taking on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 26th match of the Indian Premier League 2024. Both teams would be looking forward to the match which would be crucial in the context of the tournament. LSG has been on a roll in the last few games, managing to claim a hat-trick of wins. They seem to have a balanced team and the young bowlers are carrying their bowling lineup. With the bat, the overseas batters have been doing good for the Lucknow-based franchise.
DC has a lot of worries ahead of their game against LSG. Their key bowler, Kuldeep Yadav, got injured and is not likely to play the rest of the tournament. His absence will hurt the 2020 finalists, as they have a problem in the bowling unit. Some of the best bowlers in the world like Anrich Nortje and Ishant Sharma are getting hammered. Openers - David Warner and Prithvi Shaw
David Warner and Prithvi Shaw will continue to open the innings for DC. The pair has been good in the games they have played together so far. Warner is someone who can be handy with the experience. The star batter can play both as an anchor and give fiery starts at the top. The left-right combination has worked well for DC and might be the decisive factor in many of the games. Warner is likely to bat without any pressure in the upcoming game to try and score some runs.
Shaw got an opportunity to bat against CSK. He has made the most of the opportunities since then. The right-handed batter scored a fifty in their recent game against MI. The DC opener can go hard at the top and put pressure back on the bowlers. He is an aggressive batter and can take the game away from the opponents in a matter of a few overs. If necessary, DC has Mitchell Marsh who can open, and Rilee Rossouw who can bat at number 3.

Middle Order - Yash Dhull, Rishabh Pant (C & WK), Tristan Stubbs, and Abhishek Porel
In the middle order, DC has a talented crop of players. They have a great player like Rishabh Pant who can bat anywhere from number 3 to number 6. The star batter has been batting for DC at number four. In the last game, there was a lot of changes in their order. DC need to avoid it to get better results. Pant at number four can bat aggressively and anchor the innings too. He has been back among runs after missing out on action in the previous season due to an unfortunate accident.
To follow him would be Tristan Stubbs who has been brilliant with the bat so far. The South African finisher has been one of the best batters in the middle overs phase. He has finished the innings well too. To follow him would be Abhishek Porel who batted at number three in the last game. DC needs to play him at number six where he has been better than in any other position. If used well, the youngster can win matches for his side. DC also has Yash Dhull and Ricky Bhui in the dugout.

All-Rounders - Axar Patel
DC has some of the best All-Rounders in the world in their lineup. In the pace-bowling department, they have Mitchell Marsh who is a brilliant batter and can be handy with the ball. The Australian was named the skipper for his national side for the T20 World Cup 2024. He has been good as a bowler in the series so far. The right-handed batter for injured in the game against MI and might not be in action against LSG. Yash Dhull might play ahead of him.

In the spin-bowling department, DC has Axar Patel. The Indian All-Rounder has not been able to fire with the bat so far. The left-arm orthodox spinner has however been good with the ball. He is either economical or takes wickets. With the bat he needs to step up as DC does not bat deep. In the previous season, he was one of the best finishers. DC has some options like Lalit Yadav and Sumit Kumar who can be handy with the bat and with the ball.
Bowlers - Anrich Nortje, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, and Ishant Sharma (Impact substitute)
In the bowling department, DC has good options, But they are not being able to bowl well as a unit. In the powerplay overs, Khaleel Ahmed has been brilliant taking wickets at the top. With his swing bowling, he can be a threat to the batters. To assist him in the other end would be Ishant Sharma who can swing the ball into the right-handers. He can take wickets upfront despite going for runs. He might come in as the impact substitute in the absence of Kuldeep Yadav.
If required, DC can get an over from Anrich Nortje in the first few overs. His main role in the team is to close out the innings. However, the star pacer has been going for runs in almost every game. He was smashed by Riyan Parag, Rinku Singh, and Romario Shepherd in the last three games respectively. To assist him at the death would be Mukesh Kumar, who is a designated bowler for the back end. He is one of the best bowlers to nail yorkers. In the middle overs, DC has the option of Axar.
