Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are all set to play their second game in three days as they travel to Kolkata to play the two-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The match is set to be a thriller since both the teams currently sit in the top half of the Indian Premier League 2024 standings. A win is a must for both sides since both of them are coming into the game on the back of a loss.
There are some concerns that were on display when Delhi Capitals overcame the Lucknow Super Giants yesterday night. Their batting certainly needs to improve a lot as they found themselves reeling at 94 for 7 inside 13 overs. Their bowling also needed to be tidy yesterday and it ended up costing them the result.
Ahead of the game between Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders, let’s take a look at how the away side would be lining up tomorrow at the Eden Gardens.

Here is the probable playing XI for LSG for the match against KKR in IPL 2024, Match 28 -
Openers: KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock
Skipper KL Rahul has been in decent form of late but the only issue with his batting currently is that he has not been able to convert his starts into big ones. The right-handed batter was known in the league to convert his good starts into big displays for the side. However, that has not been the case with him this season. He would be looking to make a big score in the upcoming game and lead his side to victory.
His opening partner, Quinton de Kock has been fulfilling his role pretty well as he has been giving the team momentum early on. His aggressive approach has been paying dividends for the side as it allows KL Rahul to take his time and settle into the game. If he can survive the powerplay, he looks to convert it into a big one more often than not.

Middle Order: Devdutt Padikkal, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni
Lucknow Super Giants have been backing Devdutt Padikkal despite his poor run of form with the bat. This might be his last chance since the team management might look to give Ayush Badoni his spot in the batting order after the latter’s impressive performance against Delhi Capitals. The left-handed batter might have to come good in the upcoming game to prove his worth to the franchise.
Nicholas Pooran had a rare off day during the game against Delhi Capitals. He was dismissed by the perfect delivery from Kuldeep Yadav and it rattled his stumps. The wicketkeeper-batter is still one of the X factors for the team as he can change the tide of the match within a matter of a few balls.
Ayush Badoni has finally started to realise his potential and his amazing knock in the previous clash against the Delhi Capitals is just a testament of his abilities. If given ample time at the crease, he can surely play crucial knocks for the franchise and is one of the players that the side can look for in the long run.

All-rounders: Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya
The Australian all-rounder has been in great form and is one of the most lethal players for the franchise while batting. He would be looking to make a big score during his great run of form. The all-rounder has not bowled much this season but whenever called upon, he can chip away with wickets as well for the team.
Krunal Pandya also had a poor outing in the last encounter against Delhi Capitals as he conceded 45 runs from his three overs. He was not able to contribute much with the bat as he departed after just playing four balls. The all-rounder has been economical this season and has been known to change the tide of the match by grabbing a few wickets as well.

Bowlers: Arshad Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq, Ravi Bishnoi
The young pacer, Arshad Khan had a great start to the season with the Lucknow Super Giants as he was able to contribute more with the bat rather than the ball. His short stint at the crease was crucial as he gave support to Ayush Badoni in the game against Delhi Capitals. Although on the bowling front, he still has a lot to learn and would be looking to improve more in the coming games.
Naveen-ul-Haq has not hit the heights that he was known for in this edition of the Indian Premier League. The Afghanistan international has been racking up wickets when needed for the franchise but his economy is still a thing that needs to be pondered upon by the team management. The speedster is still one of the biggest assets for the franchise in the pace department.
The Team India leg-spinner looks like he has returned to the form he was known for. He had a decent outing against the Delhi Capitals and would be looking to utilise the surface that favours spinners more at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Once he finds his rhythm, it might be difficult for the opposition to stop him.
