MI's XI against CSK | Predicted Mumbai Indians' Playing 11 against Chennai Super Kings for 29th Match of IPL 2024

Mumbai Indians (MI) will be facing arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 29 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. MI beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) comfortably, by seven wickets to register their second win on the trot after playing six games this season.

On the other hand, CSK made light work of the subpar 138-run target set by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), winning a game after suffering back-to-back defeats against Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Both the teams are coming into the intense contest on the back of successful run-chases, thereby making it a delectable one.

Here's the probable playing XI for MI against CSK in IPL 2024 clash:

Openers - Ishan Kishan (wk), Rohit Sharma

Up top, MI possess two aggressive openers, Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma. The left-right combination works well for the side. They have a solid record while batting in Mumbai. After the burden of captaincy was taken off Rohit Sharma's shoulders, he seems a more rejuvenated batter who has all the competencies to go hard at the bowlers.

In MI's previous match vs RCB, Kishan went absolutely berserk, hammering the bowlers to all parts of the ground, en route to a brisk 69, while Rohit was more than happy to sit back and watch Kishan go all guns blazing at the other end.

Middle-order - Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Tim David

In the middle-order, MI have an established trio. Within the unit, Suryakumar Yadav is the one to watch out for. The unorthodox batter was back with a bang after being out of action in the last few months due to a thigh injury, with him coming in as an Impact Substitute and obliterating the RCB bowling attack in just his second game of the ongoing season's IPL, scoring a rapid-fire 52 off 19.

The Hyderabad-born southpaw, Tilak Varma, has been quite a reliable option for MI and was great against SRH for his 64. Against RCB, his 16* off 10 included three fours, which guided MI over the finishing line. Ahead of this season's IPL, Tim David was in blistering form. Although he wasn't needed against RCB, he has shown time and again that he has all the muscularity in the world to be a deadly finisher, as could be seen from his quick-fire knocks against SRH and DC this season.

All-rounders - Hardik Pandya (c), Romario Shepherd, Mohammad Nabi

Mumbai Indians boast of a versatile array of all-rounders in their armoury. Skipper Hardik Pandya is of course a potent recourse with bat and ball, if need be. He smashed three sixes to end up on 21* off 6 to take MI to their second victory, and although he bowled only the sole over in the previous three games, he is a more than handy white-ball bowler.

The Caribbean beast, Romario Shepherd, would be a well-known player by now, at least amongst those following this season's IPL, after his out-of-the-world innings of 39* off 10 deliveries against DC. His military medium pace can be a possible alternative to go to for MI. Coming into bat as the last recognized batter, the Afghani all-rounder can be more than a handful, providing an over or two with his handy off-breaks.

Bowlers - Shreyas Gopal, Gerald Coetzee, Jasprit Bumrah

Shreyas Gopal came in for the struggling Piyush Chawla and immediately made an impact against RCB, bowling quite economically and keeping things tight, scalping the big fish, Glenn Maxwell. MI will look to persist with the leggie and give him a decent run of games to settle himself.

The pace battery of Gerald Coetzee and Jasprit Bumrah, both of them being wicket-taking bowlers, form a lethal pair. While the South African has been on the expensive side throughout this season's IPL till now, Bumrah has been absolutely phenomenal with the ball. Notably, the cunning pacer has an incredible economy of 5.95 in the five innings he's bowled in the IPL 2024. His second five-for in the history of the cash-rich tournament was a treat to witness, and he'll be hoping to carry on the good work he's put in up until now.

Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Hardik Pandya (c), Romario Shepherd, Mohammad Nabi, Shreyas Gopal, Gerald Coetzee, Jasprit Bumrah
