IPL 2024: RR vs MI Match 38 - Top 3 player battles to watch out for

In the 38th match of the IPL 2024, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be facing Mumbai Indians (MI). The match will happen at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on the 22nd of April 2024 at 7:30 PM (IST). In their previous game, RR overcame KKR by chasing 223 runs. They scripted history by equalling their own record of chasing 223 against PBKS in 2020. Jos Buttler scored a hundred and helped RR to pull off a terrific win. Despite being out of the game for most parts, RR managed to pull off an insane win.

MI, on the other hand, won the thriller by nine runs and claimed two points. A great bowling spell from Jasprit Bumrah with the assistance of Gerald Coetzee from the other end helped the five-time champions to overcome the home side. The right-arm pacer bowled four overs, conceded just 21 runs, and claimed three wickets as MI beat PBKS by nine runs. Both Buttler and Bumrah won the Player of the Match awards in their previous games. 

The star bowler from MI is one of the fewest bowlers to have stopped Buttler in any capacity. Jos Buttler has struggled against Jasprit Bumrah, averaging 31.0 and striking at 95.4. Suryakumar Yadav vs Yuzvendra Chahal

Suryakumar Yadav has been one of the best batters in T20 cricket in the last few years. Against spin, he has improved a lot over the years. He can play some of the best bowlers in the world with ease. However, Chahal has an upper hand over the unorthodox batter. The star spinner and the MI batter have faced each other in the league in nine seasons. In 71 balls, Yadav has scored 83 runs at a batting average of 27.7 and a batting strike rate of 116.9.

Chahal has dismissed Suryakumar in three instances. In the middle-overs phase, the duo is likely to face each other. Suryakumar was good in the match against PBKS where he scored 78 runs in 53 balls. Yuzvendra Chahal had a bad night against KKR as he conceded 54 runs and claimed a wicket. The winner of the battle in the middle overs could define the run rate of MI. Chahal would back himself to deliver the goods given the nature and the dimension of the Jaipur wicket.

3. Rohit Sharma vs Trent Boult 

Rohit Sharma is one of the biggest superstars in the IPL. The star batter does not particularly have a good record against RR in the IPL. However, with the current form he is in, Sharma can be a threat to any opponent. On the other hand, Trent Boult has been bowling well in the ongoing season, especially with the new ball.
