IPL 2024: Rating Teams' performance based on batting in sixth week

At the end of the sixth week, many teams displayed good performance as batting units. Some of the batters have gone bonkers at the top. Even in the middle order, some of the batters have been highly aggressive. In the death overs, the batters have been at their explosive best. IPL 2024 has been the most batting-friendly season and the batters have made the most of it. The run fest has been a norm more often than not. However, some of the teams have not been able to make the most of the batting-friendly pitches. While some teams have played mostly in slower home conditions, other teams have players who have been poor with the bat. Some of the batters have struggled to score runs even on the flattest of wickets. Such batters have hurt the side. The results of the teams have aligned with the batting shows. Here is the ranking of the teams based on their batting performances in the IPL 2024 at the end of the sixth week: 10. Gujarat Titans (GT) 5/10 GT ( Source: IPL ) Gujarat Titans have the worst batting this season by a margin. Shubman Gill was good in the middle stage of the tournament. Outside him, GT has failed to find inspiration. Wriddhiman Saha, Azmatullah Omarzai and Vijay Shankar have been poor, and David Miller, Sai Sudarshan, and Rashid Khan are good in patches. Rahul Tewatia has been good as a finisher. 9. Punjab Kings (PBKS) 6/10 PBKS ( Source: IPL ) PBKS has been mostly reliant on the emerging duo of Ashutosh Sharma and Swapnil Singh lower down the order. In some games, the duo of Prabsimran Singh and Jonny Bairstow came good for them. But others like Shikhar Dhawan, Atharv Taide, Rilee Rossouw, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, and Jitesh Sharma have been poor with the bat. 8. Mumbai Indians (MI) 6.5/10 Mumbai Indians. (Source -IPL/BCCI) MI's batting did collectively well in the first few matches. But the likes of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan fell off the radar after the first 5 games. Their batting is now dependent on Suryakumar Yadav, Nehal Wadhera, and Tilak Varma. Tim David and Hardik Pandya have had their moments but have not been consistent in finishing the games. 7. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) 7/10 CSK. (Source -IPL/BCCI) CSK's batting has been highly reliant on Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube. At the top, Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra have been inconsistent. Daryl Mitchell and Sameer Rizvi have not done anything significant either. While MS Dhoni has been brilliant lower down the order, Ravindra Jadeja has had a mixed bag as a batter. 6. Rajasthan Royals (RR) 7/10 RR ( Source: IPL ) RR have a good set of players. Their batting has revolved around the duo of Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag who have been at their best. In the opening order, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler have returned to form but did not bat well in the first 4-5 games. While Rovman Powell has been good, Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer have not been at their best. 5. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) 7/10 LSG ( Source: IPL ) LSG have some great performers in their lineup like KL Rahul, Nicholas Pooran, and Marcus Stoinis. At the other end, they have not gotten enough support. Quinton De Kock, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, and Ayush Badoni have been only good in patches. LSG would love to get better contributions from the Indian young players. 4. Delhi Capitals (DC) 8/10 Delhi Capitals. (Source -IPL/BCCI) DC have one of the best opening duos in Jake Fraser-McGurk and Prithvi Shaw with an injured David Warner. In the middle order, the likes of Rishabh Pant, Abhishek Porel, and Tristan Stubbs have been firing as well. Additionally, they have the likes of Mitchell Marsh, Shai Hope, and Axar Patel who have been decent with their performances. 3. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) 8/10 RCB. (Source -IPL/BCCI) At the top order, RCB has the reliable duo of Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis. To follow them are the likes of Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar who have been good. While Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green have not matched the expectations, Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror have provided good finishes for the 3-time runner-ups. 2. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) 8.5/10 KKR ( Photo source: IPL ) KKR is the second-best batting side of the season so far. The 2-time champions have arguably the best opening pair in Phil Salt and Sunil Narine, both of whom are aggressive and consistent. They have some good finishers like Andre Russell and Ramandeep Singh. The middle order batters like Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer, Rinku Singh, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi have been handy. 1. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) 9/10 SRH ( Source: IPL ) SRH continues to be the best batting side. At the top, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head have been brilliant. To follow them, SRH has good batters like Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abdul Samad, and Shahbaz Ahmed coupled with a brilliant middle-order batter like Heinrich Klaasen. Even Pat Cummins has come to the party in some instances.
