Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have played enthralling cricket with their exciting batting unit in the ongoing IPL 2024. In their second game of the season, SRH scored a mind-boggling 277 runs against Mumbai Indians to set a new IPL record.

Pat Cummins has seen his teams’ charge with the bat being led by Heinrich Klassen. The South African wicketkeeper-batter has been in red-hot form in the ongoing IPL 2024. It was SRH's bowling which faced tough time during the loss to Gujarat Titans.

Hyderabad are set to face a huge challenge in their next game on Friday when they take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The defending champions travel to Hyderabad having seen their unbeaten start to the season snapped by Delhi Capitals.

Australian opener Travis Head has shown his destructive batting prowess in the two games of the ongoing IPL 2024. His 18-ball fifty against Mumbai Indians set the tone for SRH to reach a huge score on the board.

Veteran Indian batter Mayank Agarwal began the season reasonably well with a quick-fire 33 vs KKR in the first game. The 33-year-old has seen his form dwindle. Hence he will aim to bounce back to keep his place in the SRH playing XI in the upcoming fixtures ahead.

Middle-Order – Abhishek Sharma, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, and Abdul Samad

Young Abhishek Sharma has been one of the best young domestic talents. The left-handed batter has already made his mark with a fifty in 16 balls against MI. With the selectors keenly watching, Abhishek Sharma knows he needs a few more big knocks to make it to the next level. Aiden Markram has been decent with the bat for SRH this season with 77 runs from three matches. The 29-year-old though needs to score more to help his side this year.

With 167 runs from three appearances, Heinrich Klaasen has proved to be one of the most feared batters in the IPL 2024. The South African has averaged 83.5 thus far along with an impressive strike rate above 200. His brutal knock during the history-making game versus Mumbai Indians left the world in a daze. The role of Heinrich Klassen is important considering the CSK bowling attack is stronger than most teams this year. Besides, youngster Abdul Samad will look to build on his reputation as a fierce striker of the ball in the death overs.

All-rounders – Shahbaz Ahmed and Pat Cummins

Shahbaz Ahmed came into the SRH team and made a small yet important contribution with the bat against KKR. The 29-year-old has scored 38 runs so far and picked just two wickets with the ball for SRH in the three games he has featured in.

Pat Cummins hasn’t been needed this year as his astute captaincy has been on display. The 30-year-old was the key member with the ball during the win against Mumbai Indians. It is set to be a huge test of his captaincy skills when Pat Cummins plays against a hurt CSK side.

Bowlers – Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mayank Markande, and Jaydev Unadkat

The one area where Sunrisers Hyderabad have struggled this year is their bowling. Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is yet to pick a wicket from three games. The 34-year-old conceded 104 runs in his first two games before giving away 27 runs against Gujarat Titans.

Jaydev Unadkat began the season as an impact player with a two-wicket haul against his former side, Mumbai Indians (MI). In the next game, the 32-year-old went wicketless against Gujarat Titans (GT). Despite having years of experience, the veteran pacer has struggled to come up with consistent performances with the ball. Mayank Markande has picked three wickets so far but has been on the expensive side.
