4. Lucknow Super Giants
After two successful years with the franchise, Gautam Gambhir has left Lucknow Super Giants to join Kolkata Knight Riders. Coaches or mentors changing teams is often not as major news as others in the IPL but it’s different in this case as Gambhir was often regarded as the unofficial captain of the team. In the absence of KL Rahul, he seemed to have taken control of the match and took the decisions on Krunal Pandya’s behalf and courtesy of the same, they qualified for the the playoffs of the 2023 edition.
When it comes to the team composition, they have an extremely strong squad, to say the least. KL Rahul will partner with either Quinton de Kock or Kyle Mayers while Deepak Hooda, Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal and Ayush Badoni are the options they have for the middle order. The likes of Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis are available as well and their experience in the shortest format will only benefit the team.
Bowling too looks more or less sorted with Naveen-ul-Haq, Shivam Mavi, Mohsin Khan and new recruit Shamar Joseph in the mix. Ravi Bishnoi will lead the spin department as the experience of Amit Mishra will add value. They also have Krishnappa Gowtham in the mix that they can try, as he can also provide batting.
