2. Gujarat Titans
After winning the title in 2022 and being finished as the runner-up in 2023, one would have expected Gujarat Titans to stay in the race for the 2024 edition as well. However, things haven’t gone according to plan. Their captain Hardik Pandya has left the franchise to join Mumbai Indians, which is a massive blow, but they seem to have found the alternative already.
Star batter Shubman Gill will be leading the side and it needs to be seen if can get the job done. In two years of existence, Gujarat has been an extremely successful side and to live up to that, won’t be an easy task, especially for someone like Gill, who doesn’t have enough experience. He will have the likes of Kane Williamson, Wriddhiman Saha, Rashid Khan and Umesh Yadav by his side, who can guide him throughout the tournament.
To find success again, the team would hope Mohit Sharma to repeat his last year’s heroics. David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Shahrukh Khan, Vijay Shankar and Sai Sudharsan will play a very crucial part in the season, as they will form the middle order. When it comes to bowling, Spencer Johnson will be the player to watch out for, given that Mohammed Shami is ruled out of the season. Kartik Tyagi, Noor Ahmad, Mohit and Umesh will form the bowling unit as it stands, they once again have a strong unit, which can challenge for the title. Only if they can manage to handle the absence of Hardik.
