Currently ranked No. 2 in T20I batting rankings, Yadav has consistently excelled in the shortest format. MI's investment in Yadav since 2018 has paid off, with the batter contributing to two title-winning campaigns. The seamer has been instrumental in all five of MI's championship victories. The franchise's early trust in Bumrah pushed his career, leading to his inclusion in the Indian national team across all formats and his rise into becoming one of the best bowlers in the world. Bumrah had an exceptional 2024 season, where he claimed 20 wickets in 13 matches with an economy of 6.48. As the team's leading wicket-taker, he's set to spearhead MI's bowling attack once again. Bumrah's outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Series award with 15 wickets. 4. Tilak Varma Tilak Varma. The youngster can anchor as well as play aggressively and has been MI’s one of the best batters in the last couple of editions. He has played 38 matches in the cash-rich league, scoring 1156 runs at a strike rate of 146.32. Apart from his batting prowess, Tilak can also roll his arms if necessary. Even though with the Impact Player Rule in place, MI haven’t really used him much as far as bowling is concerned but if required, Tilak can prove to be a useful weapon. Notably, Tilak can be MI’s third retention, which is INR 11 crore. It will allow to franchise to spend big money on other notable names. Ishan Kishan Ishan Kishan (Source: IPL) Mumbai Indians broke the bank and signed Ishan Kishan for INR 15.25 crore in the 2022 IPL mega-auction. They couldn’t retain him the last time around, but this time, with the option to retain five capped players, MI are unlikely to let Kishan go to the auction, especially with Rohit Sharma’s time coming to an end. Kishan has been a part of MI for the last seven years and scored 2325 runs. He has been extremely successful as an opener and given the fact that he can keep wickets as well, Mumbai can kill two with one shot. A keeper who can also open is a rare combination in Indian cricket and that is another reason why MI would definitely look forward to keeping him. When it comes to money, Kishan can be their fifth retention. In that case, he would be earning INR 14 crore, slightly less than what he was previously earning. 6. Akash Madhwal Akash Madhwal (Photo source : IPL ) Akash Madhwal has been Mumbai’s biggest find in recent years. Their scout system is known for producing quality talents and the Pandya brothers, Tilak and Anshul Kamboj among others are the best examples. Madhwal has been sensational for Mumbai in the last couple of years and Mumbai can retain him under the uncapped player category. In that case, Mumbai can retain him for INR 4 crore and sort their pace bowling unit. With Bumrah, Hardik and Madhwal, their pace department looks sorted, especially with three Indian players in the mix. So far, he has represented MI in 13 matches and picked up 19 wickets at an economy of 9.70. Overall, he has featured in 41 T20 matches and cliched 46 wickets at an economy of 8.68.
