Shikhar Dhawan’s top 5 IPL knocks against Royal Challengers Bengaluru
In his 16-year IPL career, Shikhar Dhawan has played some notable knocks against the three-time runners-up.
In the fifth game of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), when Punjab Kings (PBKS) will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the former’s captain Shikhar Dhawan will be expected to showcase his batting mettle to help his team taste the second consecutive victory in the competition.
The veteran has appeared in 25 matches against Challengers and has notched up 679 runs at a strike rate of 124.13 with six half-centuries. After failing to do big against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Mohali, Dhawan’s responsibility will be to play a solid knock on Bengaluru’s batting heaven. Ahead of the contest at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, let’s revisit Dhawan’s five best batting innings against Bengaluru.
Here are Shikhar Dhawan’s five best IPL knocks against RCB
5. 50 off 39 in 2014
In the 46th game of the 2014 IPL, RCB were required to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, to keep their playoff hopes alive. At the toss, Bengaluru skipper Virat Kohli emerged victorious against his counterpart David Warner and elected to bat first. Riding on Kohli’s 67 off 41, the Challengers posted 160 runs on the board in 20 overs.
Following the target, Dhawan along with his skipper Warner took RCB’s quality bowling unit to the cleaners. The southpaw stitched a 100-run partnership with the Aussie in just 12.3 overs. Dhawan returned to the pavilion after scoring 50 off just 39 balls. His fine innings included eight boundaries (seven fours and a maximum). Sunrisers pulled off the target with just two balls to spare, riding on Warner’s 59-run innings off 46 balls and Dhawan’s half-century.
