Back in 2019, when Delhi knocked out RCB from the competition, Dhawan played a spectacular 50-run innings off just 37 deliveries. With four wins and seven defeats in 11 matches, RCB’s clash against DC became do-or-die. DC skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and put his team to bat first.

Opening the innings, Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw delivered a fierce start to their side but the latter fell to Umesh Yadav after scoring 18 off 10. The veteran opener stood in the middle and hit a half-century. In the 13th over, Dhawan’s innings ended at the hands of Yuzvendra Chahal after scoring 50 off just 37. Delhi put up 187 runs in 20 overs and RCB fell 16 runs short at the end of the contest. Dhawan also got the Player of the Match award for his batting effort.
