Shikhar Dhawan’s top 5 IPL knocks against Royal Challengers Bengaluru
In his 16-year IPL career, Shikhar Dhawan has played some notable knocks against the three-time runners-up.
3. 50 off 33 in 2008
Dhawan is one of the fewest players who has been active in the cash-rich T20 league since 2008. The dynamic left-handed batter kicked off his IPL career in Delhi colours under Virender Sehwag’s captaincy. In the inaugural season, he smashed four half-centuries and one came against RCB at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium (now Arun Jaitley Stadium).
Luck favoured Bengaluru captain Rahul Dravid and he invited Delhi to bat first. After Sehwag’s departure in the fifth over, Dhawan arrived at the crease and supported his vice-captain, Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir went on to play an 86-run knock off 54 deliveries and Dhawan also went back to the pavilion after amassing 50 runs off just 33 balls. Delhi posted 191 runs in their 20 overs and defending the total, Glenn McGrath took a four-wicket haul for the hosts to restrict the visitors to 181.
