The Board of Control for Cricket in <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-news/t20-world-cup-2022-bcci-announces-indias-squad-for-the-tournament/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">India</a> announced the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, which is set to commence in October in Australia. There are some quality players on the roster who will help in&nbsp;India's World Cup campaign, but there were a few&nbsp;individuals who&nbsp;were not selected for the tournament even after impressive performances in the format in the recent past.
Four players will accompany the team as reserve players in addition to the 15-man roster that the selectors have picked. While Rohit Sharma is set to lead the Men in Blue, KL Rahul will serve as his deputy. The Indian team has a lot of potential players. The benched players also hold great potential. The selection process is surely a difficult task, and as a result, some deserving players missed their flight to the World Cup 2022.

After an impressive stint at the IPL last year, his performance graph declined drastically, but the youngster has shown potential. He has not been able to showcase his talent due to the lack of opportunities to feature in the team’s combination, and as a result, has missed out on the World Cup.

He will undoubtedly feel unfortunate, though, as his strong hitting and southpaw status would have made him a useful addition to the team for the T20 World Cup in 2022. Kishan may have found a spot in the team at the top of the order because India doesn't have any left-handers in the top-order other than <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-news/i-would-rather-go-for-dinesh-karthik-down-there-rather-rishabh-pant-in-t20is-robin-uthappa/">Rishabh Pant</a>, who isn't in the best of form.
He scored 418 runs at an average of 32.15 in the 2022 IPL, with three fifties&nbsp;to his credit. Kishan could have served as a backup opener and been provided&nbsp;the opportunity to play in either&nbsp;the World Cup or the upcoming home&nbsp;series against Australia and South Africa because even KL Rahul has been struggling to find his rhythm.

Samson's skill set would have been ideal for the team to select in Australian circumstances where the ball naturally comes on to the bat effectively.
Samson must be truly thinking at this point about what else he needs to do to be on the national team. He has always given it his all when given the chance, but he has been passed over once again, adding to the wicketkeeper-batter's&nbsp;sense of frustration.
Sanju Samson's selection would have offered India a true attacking intent in the middle order and a trustworthy presence behind the stumps in the T20 World Cup 2022, as Rishabh Pant appears unable to break out of his slump in the shorter formats.

Shreyas Iyer has not made it to the main squad but will be traveling with the Indian team as a stand-by player. Iyer has faced a lot of criticism recently for giving away his wicket cheaply. The batter has constantly faced problems with short-pitch deliveries. He has majorly ended up losing his wickets to such deliveries and that would be a concern on Australian soil.
It was not surprising to not see Iyer’s name in the roaster, because many other players deserved a place over him, of which some even made the cut. Iyer’s last international stint was against the West Indies, where he fell prey to the short pitch deliveries and left everyone unimpressed.

Ever since his successful stint at IPL 2022, he has not managed to leave an impact. He traveled with India last year for the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/twitter-reactions-cricket/pls-be-aware-what-is-t20-format-netizens-hit-back-at-mohammad-azharuddin-for-his-comments-on-indias-world-cup-squad/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">World Cup</a> as a net bowler. But his form reduced drastically this year, and he was sidelined from the squad.
Venkatesh Iyer rose to stardom sharply, but his downfall was as quick as his rise. It won’t come as a surprise to not see him in the squad because he has not been a part of the white-ball squad for quite some time now, and the selectors went with the names who have consistently shown improvement.

He has undergone surgery successfully, but it will take him some time to get back into the game. As a result, he was ruled out of the marquee event as well.
To fill in the void for the left-handed spin-bowling all-rounder in the team, Indian selectors went ahead with Axar Patel, a perfect like-for-like substitute for Jadeja. Recently, Patel has also emerged as the batting option down the order, and thus he’s a good choice for the team.

He moved to Delhi Capitals in the recent edition of the Indian Premier League and faced criticism for conceding crucial runs. He’s dubbed as ‘Lord Thakur’ for his heroics in the Test setup, but he has not been able to put up a remarkable show in the international 20-over setup.
The unpredictability of his performances has kept him out of the selector’s sight and thus he has not played many T20Is recently. The injury concerns also kept him out for a brief while. Thakur will have to be consistent enough in his performances to earn himself a place in India’s T20I squad.

His IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings has backed him a lot, and it was visible when they paid a hefty sum of INR 14 CR to get him back in the side during the mega auctions for the 2022 season. He gained his skipper <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/social-tracker-cricket/my-tribal-chief-roman-reigns-would-smash-ms-dhonis-numbers-on-cricket-field-claims-veteran-wrestling-manager-paul-heyman/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MS Dhoni</a>’s trust, but a major injury ruled him out of the India games and the entire IPL.
He marked his return against Zimbabwe and was very impressive in both the games that he played in, as he did not go wicketless. But he needs to improve in his death over bowling. He has not proven effective under pressure during death overs and had not had many outings recently due to his injury setback. Hence, he made it to the reserves list.

The young spinner has also been the talk of the town ever since the squad was announced. He was given a chance to showcase his skillset at the Asia Cup, and he also proved worthy of the spot on the team as he was one of the most economical bowlers in the Super Four game against <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-news/they-have-no-idea-about-what-is-happening-inside-saqlain-mushtaq-responds-strongly-to-inzamam-and-akhtars-criticism-of-rizwan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pakistan</a>.
Questions were raised after he missed out on the Indian team in the next game, and the youngster could play just one game at the continental event. But that performance against Pakistan earned him a place only in the World Cup squad as a standby player and it came as a shock to see him missing out of the main 15-member roaster.
Bishnoi seemed to be the obvious choice for the team for the T20 World Cup 2022 because Chahal hadn't had the best of campaigns at the Asia Cup&nbsp;and Ashwin hadn't played in crucial games. But he, unfortunately, missed the flight and would now be hoping to give his best.

Avesh Khan may feel unlucky that Mohammed Shami was chosen over him and that he was not at least on the list of standbys. Avesh has participated in 15 T20Is during his career, including the recently concluded <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/twitter-reactions-cricket/twitter-reactions-sri-lanka-claim-their-sixth-asia-cup-title-thrash-pakistan-in-summit-clash/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Asia Cup 2022</a>.
Despite not having the finest statistics, he has been a member of the squad for a while and has had playing experience. Shami, on the contrary, last appeared in a T20I at the World Cup in 2021, and his last international outing&nbsp;was in July. Avesh can make the new ball move in addition to having the speed to add bounce to flat grounds.
