T20 World Cup 2022: Match 29 - Predicted Netherlands Playing XI vs Pakistan
The Netherlands will face the might of the Pakistani team who are wounded after the defeat to Zimbabwe.
The Netherlands will face a stern test in their upcoming fixture as they square off against a wounded Pakistani side on a lively pitch in Perth on Sunday, 30th of October. Scott Edward's side surrendered meekly against India after making a strong start in the match.
They had the Indian batters pinned in the early stages of the match, but the introduction of Suryakuamr Yadav and Virat Kohli tilted the match in India's favor. The duo took the Dutch bowlers to the cleaners in the final overs, deflating the underdogs.
Unlike the bowlers, the Dutch batters failed to make an impression and were at the ropes since the very beginning of the second innings. They will be up against arguably one of the best bowling attacks in Pakistan and will need to show better resolve than their previous outing.
Netherlands’ probable playing XI against Pakistan:
Openers: Max O'Dowd and Vikramjit Singh
Max O'Dowd was one of the very few players who showed his quality in the previous encounter against India. The classy opener played a couple of lovely shots at the top of the innings before Axar Patel rattled his stumps to pull curtains on his brief stay in the middle.
His opening partner Vikramjit Singh had a woeful outing against India and was all at sea against the veteran Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who eventually got rid of the youngster for a nine-ball one run. The 19-year-old has failed to impress in the T20 World Cup so far and will face a stern test against a quality Pakistani bowling line-up in the upcoming fixture.
Middle-order: Colin Ackermann, Tom Cooper, and Scott Edwards (c & wk)
Colin Ackermann did provide some stability with his sedated innings against India, but failed to make an impression and was dismissed after getting a start in the match. The veteran all-rounder will have to be at his best to keep the menacing Pakistani attack at bay.
The Australian-born Tom Cooper has got a wealth of experience playing in several franchise tournaments across the globe. But the veteran batter is another Dutch batter who has had an unremarkable tournament so far. Cooper is one player who is accustomed to playing in Australia, and the Netherlands will hope that he can finally come good in this year's ICC event.
The Netherlands' skipper Scott Edwards is one of the nicest happy-go-lucky characters in the game. Unfortunately for the Dutch he has failed to lead the team from the front and has been one of the weak links of the team despite his experience at the top level.
All-rounders: Bas de Leede, Tim Pringle, Logan van Beek, Shariz Ahmad
Netherlands Bas de Leede has been one of the finds for the team over the last couple of years. The 22-year frequently finds himself in the headlines for all the right reasons. He might be short on experience in his relatively nascent career, but his all-around abilities make him an invaluable asset to the Dutch outfit.
Tim Pringle was the highest scorer for the Dutch team during their forgetful outing against Asian giants India. The all-rounder registered his side's only six in the match after he dispatched veteran Indian offie Ravichandran Ashwin for a massive hit.
Another Dutch player who had a nightmare outing against the Men in Blue was Logan van Beek. Hailing from Christchurch, New Zealand, the 32-year-old was put to the sword by Virat Kohli and Suryakuamr Yadav in the latter stages of the innings as his four overs yielded 45 runs in the match. He failed to impress with the bat as well, returning with just three runs to his name.
Shariz Ahmad was one of the solitary bright sparks in an overall bleak performance. The 19-year-old bowled just one over and conceded five runs, a great output in the context of the innings. He then played a late cameo with the bat and remained unbeaten on 16 off 11 deliveries.
Bowlers: Paul van Meekeren, Fred Klaassen
Paul van Meekeren and Fred Klassen made a great start to the game and conceded just 13 and 12 runs respectively, in their combined initial four overs. The former even landed a crucial blow by dismissing the dangerous Indian opener KL Rahul cheaply. But things took a turn for the worse after the ten-over mark as India put their foot on the accelerator. The duo might find a bit more joy at a lively pitch in Perth which seems to suit the faster bowlers more than the batters.
The Netherlands Predicted Playing XI against Pakistan:
Vikramjit Singh, Max ODowd, Bas de Leede, Colin Ackermann, Tom Cooper, Scott Edwards (c & wk), Tim Pringle, Logan van Beek, Shariz Ahmad, Fred Klaassen, Paul van Meekeren
