T20 World Cup 2022: Match 42 - Predicted Zimbabwe Playing XI vs India

Zimbabwe will lock horns with India on November 6, Sunday, in the 42nd match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. Craig Ervine & Co. are coming into the game having suffered a loss at the hands of the Netherlands by five wickets whereas the Men in Blue are arriving after a hard-fought win against Bangladesh.

Zimbabwe made one of the biggest upsets of the T20 extravaganza when they overcame Pakistan by a run. However, they have failed to sustain the winning momentum and have suffered consecutive losses since then. They are now placed in the fifth position with three points in four games. Though they are not mathematically out of the tournament, their Net Run Rate (NRR) of -0.313 is too low to make them a serious contender for the spot in the semi-final. 

Zimbabwe would know that India, who were one of the pre-tournament favourites, have more to lose in the Sunday clash. Thus, the Chevrons are likely to come hard at Rohit Sharma & Co. and try to script yet another historic triumph. Opener - Wesley Madhevere, Craig Ervine (C)

Wesley Madhevere and Craig Ervine are likely to start the proceeding for Zimbabwe with the bat. Though there has been some tinkering to Madhevere’s batting position during the T20 carnival, they have stuck with him at the top of the order for the last couple of matches and might continue with the same for the encounter against India. 

The 22-year-old has played some good innings in the tournament but has not done so consistently. He has featured in seven games and scored 106 runs at a strike rate of 129.26. He would look to bring his A-game into play and give his side a brisk start on Sunday.

Ervine has been a run bank of the batting lineup for over a decade. However, the Zimbabwe skipper has been far from his best in the global event. In the six matches he has played so far, the 37-year-old has managed to score 99 runs at a strike rate of 90.00. The veteran batter would look to show his class against the Indian bowling attack.
