T20 World Cup 2022: One bowler from each side who can bowl Super Over during the tournament
The T20 World Cup will be held for the first time in Australia, starting on October 16.
Pakistan: Haris Rauf
Pakistan, a factory of top-class fast bowlers, have a lot to choose from for a super over. It could be their spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi for his sheer quality and all-round nature as a fast bowler, or it could be Naseem Shah for the raw pace and aggression that he carries.
The other option that the Men in Green have is Haris Rauf. The 28-year-old can not only bowl faster than his teammates, but he also has subtle variations that can be vital in crunch situations. He adds this different dimension to the table that makes him versatile across situations and surfaces, that might just prompt the team to give him the super over responsibilities.
Rauf has been impressive this year, bagging 17 scalps in 12 T20Is with an economy rate of 8.17 and best figures of 3 for 29. He is yet to play in Australia in the shortest format but his express pace and subtle variations could well suit the conditions.
