One of the finest sides in the tournament, England have done well in chunks in the tournament, but certainly need to come up with improved performances. They too have the same equation as the home team and need a win in their next outing to stay alive in the tournament.
In their first game, the bowlers were terrific to bundle out Afghanistan for 112. However, the top-order batters could not weave their magic. It was Liam Livingstone’s composure, which helped the team to start off on a winning note.
The Three Lions then locked horns against Ireland and were chasing a target of 158. The pair of Jos Buttler and Alex Hales were again dismissed early, while other batters could not deliver well in terms of strike rate. As a result, they lost just by five runs according to the DLS method, before the rain arrived. England’s latest outing against Australia was abandoned due to rain.
