T20 World Cup 2024: India vs Bangladesh Match 47: Bangladesh’s strongest predicted playing XI against India
Bangladesh mustered three wins in four games in the group stage and succumbed to Australia by 28 runs in their first Super 8 game.
Bangladesh (BAN) were termed as an underdog when they entered the T20 World Cup 2024 on the back of a disappointing series loss against minnows, United States of America. But the Tigers managed to pull off the Group Stage challenges and cemented their place in the Super 8 stages. They mustered three wins in four games in the group stage and succumbed to Australia by 28 runs in their first Super 8 game.
They will take on the mighty Indian (IND) Team in their second game at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on June 22, and a loss would potentially see them bowing out of the tournament. The opening pair of Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das has let the team down and promoting Rishad Hossain up the order against Aussies did not work well. Towhid Hridoy has been among the runs and the spin department is a point of concern for the Asian neighbours against India as was with other teams.

Here's Bangladesh’s predicted XI against India:
Openers: Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das
Tanzid Hasan has been a sorry affair for Bangladesh so far as the opener has garnered just 47 runs in five games. Bangladesh were dealt early blows every time as the opposition managed to tackle Hasan with a quicker ball ploy. He is relatively novice and has played just 12 T20Is with 284 runs to his name at an average of 28.4 and with a strike rate of 122.41.
Litton Das showed promise with his fiery knock against India at the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Since then, the batter has only gone south in the shortest format of the game. In the latest edition, he amassed just 72 runs in five games while opening the batting and added to the woes. With an experience of 87 T20Is, the team will be banking on him to deliver big.

Middle order: Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali
Najmul Hossain Shanto has been disappointing with his batting in the World Cup. The southpaw has managed just 67 runs in five games and has looked like the weak link in the Bangladesh middle order. But his captaincy has been appreciated by the pundits and his utilisation of bowlers was the key for Bangladesh in the group stages.
Towhid Hridoy has been one batter who has consistently shown his prowess on sluggish West Indies decks. The batter is the top scorer of the teams with 135 runs in five games and was the linchpin behind Bangladesh’s touch chases in the group stages. He almost pulled off a successful chase against South Africa if not for his untimely dismissal in the death over.
Jaker Ali was provided with limited opportunities and the wicket-keeper failed to create an impact. Having played three games, he managed just 34 runs batting down the order. His place in the playing XI has been a point of debate owing to Litton’s dismal form with that bat. Nevertheless, the Tigers have found a way to keep both the wicket-keeper batters in the fray who are facing a slump in the form.

All-Rounders: Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah
Shakib Al Hasan faced the wrath of critics as his usual impact with the bat and the ball was missing in the initial stages of the game. But the all-rounder made amends with a coming-from-behind half-century against the Netherlands. This was his first fifty-plus score since October 2022 in T20Is. His newfound form will be crucial for Bangladesh against Indian spinners.
Mahmudullah showed glimpses of hope with his little time while batting down the order. He has scored 76 runs in five games and Shanto has hoped the veteran would spread his experience around the team ahead of the marquee event. Mahmudullah took his team over the rope against Sri Lanka in a chase and captured the win in the 19th over when they were eight wickets down with 12 runs needed.

Bowlers: Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mustafizur Rahman
Rishad Hossain dazzled with his three wickets against Sri Lanka and since then the spinner has proved his mettle in the ongoing World Cup. He has picked nine wickets in five games and has shown his skills in death overs for Bangladesh. His triple strike against Netherlands proved to be the game-changer for Bangladesh.
Taskin Ahmed has lacked the lethal nature he possessed during the T20 World Cup 2024. But the pacer has managed seven wickets in five games while assisting Mustafizur Rahman well in the powerplay. He was injured ahead of the marquee event but was named in the squad despite his lack of recovery. He has done well against the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the past and Bangladesh will expect a similar performance from him.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib leads the charge for Bangladesh with nine wickets in five games and an economy rate better than the rest. Bangladesh were defending the lowest total in the history of the T20 World Cup 2024 against Nepal and Tanzim managed to pick four wickets, giving away just seven runs with two maidens and changing the course of the game.
Mustafizur Rahman had a brilliant first half of the Indian Premier League 2024. The pacer seemed to have lost the plot in the subsequent games but he put an end to speculations with a six-wicket haul against the USA in the third game of the T20I series and avoided the white-wash. In the World Cup 2024, the pacer has picked seven wickets in five games so far.
