Kensington Oval ground in Barbados will witness the electric clash between England and Australia on Saturday, June 08. It is a huge game for the current holders of the T20 World Cup after their opening game was washed out due to rain. Jos Buttler was left frustrated as his bowlers didn’t pick up a single wicket against Scotland in their opening match.
Australia on the other hand come into the match after their rather easy win over Oman in their opening encounter. David Warner and Marcus Stoinis scored half-centuries, with the latter also picking three wickets with the ball to cap off a perfect day on the field.

So far England and Australia have met each other 23 times in T20 Cricket with the former winning 11 and the Aussies tasted success in ten games, while two matches bore no result. It is to be noted that in 2010 the Three Lions had beaten Australia at the same venue to win their maiden ICC title. Paul Collingwood’s side were crowned the World Twenty20 winners after their easy win over their arch rivals.
Here is the predicted England XI vs Australia:
Openers – Jos Buttler and Phil Salt
The Englishmen will walk into the game with confidence that their opening pair is in good form with the bat. Phil Salt has been having a great time with the bat, as it was seen during the recent IPL 2024 season. The 28-year-old will look to continue his rich vein of form against Australia in Barbados on Saturday. Jos Buttler too has been in decent touch of late, and his knack of scoring runs during ICC tournaments makes him a very dangerous batter.
Middle-order – Jonny Bairstow and Harry Brook
The middle-order for the Three Lions is set to feature two boys from Yorkshire who can take the bowlers to the cleaners. Jonny Bairstow has been in good form in recent times, as seen during the IPL and also the series against Pakistan. Harry Brook has been at his imperious best in the county circuit but hasn’t got many chances to show his form on his return to international cricket.
All-rounders – Will Jacks, Moeen Ali, and Liam Livingstone
Australia will be wary of the threat the three English all-rounders possess. Moeen Ali is not only a very wily bowler, but he is also a very potent batter who can change gears as the situation demands. Will Jacks is a proven T20 match-winner, as seen during his fiery knocks for RCB during their IPL 2024. The final cog in the wheel is Liam Livingstone, and the lad from Lancashire can give the ball a fair thump during the back end of the innings.
Bowlers – Chris Jordan, Mark Wood, Jofra Archer, and Adil Rashid
The English side has two bowlers who can bowl at genuine pace in Mark Wood and Jofra Archer. The bowlers have in the past troubled the Australian side with their genuine pace and wicket-taking abilities. Chris Jordan will look top bowl well after his poor showing in the last game versus Scotland. Adil Rashid with all his experience will be a huge asset for Jos Buttler as the veteran spinner has all the tools to upset the aggressive Australian batting.
