4. Babar Azam (Pakistan)
With 122 runs from four matches, Babar Azam ended as Pakistan's highest scorer in the 2024 World Cup. But has it had any positive effect on the team? The Men in Green suffered a shock defeat to the USA in their opening match. Babar top-scored with 44 runs but at a strike rate of 102.33. He failed against India (13 off 10 balls) and scored 33 against Canada at a strike rate of 100. With just one victory from three matches, Babar’s team has failed to qualify for the Super 8s, and won in their last match against Ireland, but to no avail, as it was a dead rubber encounter.

3. Quinton de Kock (South Africa)
Quinton de Kock is now a shadow of his former self. The southpaw had endured a torrid campaign in IPL 2024 and is still not out of the rough patch. Although South Africa won all their league-stage matches, de Kock’s contribution was just 40 runs. The opening batter struggled to find runs and has been one of the biggest cause of concern for the Proteas, who are yet to lose a game in the tournament so far.
