The 46th match of the T20 World Cup 2024 will feature a clash between the tournament hosts. United States of America (USA) will take on West Indies (WI) in a Super Eight encounter at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, on Saturday, June 22. Both teams lost their first match in the second round and are gearing up for a crucial battle to keep themselves alive in the tournament.
West Indies, who finished the league stage as Group C table toppers, suffered an eight-wicket loss to the defending champions. USA, on the other hand, lost to South Africa by 18 runs despite putting up a serious fight. Although Windies are considered favourites to win the game, Rovman Powell and Co. will not take the associate nation lightly given their remarkable success in this series so far.
Here's the strongest predicted playing XI of West Indies vs USA for the T20 WC 2024 clash:
Openers: Johnson Charles, Shai Hope
West Indies may be forced to make a change to their playing XI from the previous match due to an injury to opener Brandon King. After suffering a side strain, King was forced off the field retired hurt and the right-hander is unlikely to play in the upcoming match. The experienced campaigner in Shai Hope is expected to take the opening slot against the USA.
Hope has played just one match in the series so far, in which he scored 25 off 17. Johnson Charles had a sluggish start to the tournament, bagging two ducks in three games. However, he bettered his game in the last two matches, scoring 81 runs at a decent strike rate.
Middle-order: Nicholas Pooran (wk), Rovman Powell (C), Sherfane Rutherford
Nicholas Pooran continues his fine form from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The all-time highest run-scorer of West Indies in T20Is once again leads the batting unit for the team. Pooran is currently the highest run-getter in the tournament with 200 runs at an average of 40.00 and a strike rate of 141.84. Windies’ chances of reaching the semi-finals will largely depend on Pooran's form.

Rovman Powell was not impressive in the group stage but played a captain's knock against England in the Super 8s. His 36 off 17 balls, including five sixes, was crucial in the team reaching a competitive total of 180. Sherfane Rutherford has played a couple of brilliant innings, notably scoring a match-winning 68* against New Zealand.
All-rounders: Roston Chase, Andre Russell, Romario Shepherd
Barring a match-winning 42* off 27 in the first match against Papua New Guinea, Roston Chase has not done anything special with the bat. But his ability to chip in with some crucial overs makes him an important part of the team. Notably, the right-arm off-spinner took a wicket at an economy rate of 6.30 in the last match against England.
