South African team has been one of the best sides of the T20 World Cup 204 tournament. The Proteas had played four games in the group matches and won all of them and so far won both their games in the Super-8 stages as well.
Their next game of the tournament will see them lock horns with West Indies. The home team is coming into the game on the back of their crushing win over USA to take them to the second spot in the table.
Interestingly the two sides had met in the first ever game of the T20 World Cup way back in 2007. On that day Chris Gayle had scored a brilliant to take his team to a huge score. The South Africans won the game after Herschelle Gibbs scored 90 to pull off one of the biggest chase in T20 cricket history at that time.
Here is the predicted South African XI for the game against West Indies:
Openers – Quinton De Kock and Reeza Hendricks
One of the biggest plus points for South Africa during the 2024 T20 World Cup has been their opening batters. Reeza Hendricks has been a consistent performer with the bat at the top of the order.
Quinton De Kock too found form with a brilliant fifty against England to make the dynamic duo one of the most potent in the playing XI.
Middle-order – Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klassen, and David Miller
David Miller has been the go to man for South Africa as he has bailed them out of tough situations in previous games. The left-handed batter scored a fifty against Netherlands and scored an important 43 in the last match versus England.
It has not been an easy tournament for Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen. The two stars have struggled with the bat and will use the West Indian match as the right moment to kickstart their campaign with the bat.
All-rounders – Marco Jansen and Tristan Stubbs
Tristan Stubbs has been pivotal with the bat and has been used an enforcer of sorts. The youngster has used his IPL form to play the perfect role with the bat and has been scoring key runs in quick times to aid his team.
Marco Jansen has been quiet so far with the bat but it is bowling which is coming to the fore to help his side keep control over their opponents.
Bowlers – Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Ottneil Baartman
Left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj has been at his economical best with the ball. His figures of two wickets for 25 runs against England swung the game in favor of the Proteas.
The fast bowling duo of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje have taken wickets consistently with Nortje in particular being a constant threat with his pace. The one major concern for South Africa will be the form of Ottneil Baartman who has been expensive with the ball in recent matches.
South African predicted XI vs West Indies
Quinton De Kock (WK), Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markram (C), Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Ottneil Baartman.
