5. Dinesh Karthik or Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant is undoubtedly one of the most gifted batters in India and has all the qualities of a modern batter. He can strike the ball big, he has the switch hit in his armoury, he is also a natural timer of the ball, and has got shots all around the ground.
Pant, on his day, can make the game his own and win it for the side. And he has shown glimpses of that in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and also in the international circuit. Albeit, his biggest nemesis has been consistency, and an average of 23.94 and a strike rate of 126.21 just show that he has not quite found his feet in T20Is.
Dinesh Karthik, on the other hand, has forced his way back into the national team following a great summer in the IPL and has emerged as a proper finisher for the side. He normally comes in during the final overs, contrary to Pant who arrives in the middle phase. Despite having different roles, India are quite expected to go with only one of the wicketkeeper-batters in the side for T20 WC playing XI.
