The 27-year-old Bangladesh bowler has been an unsung hero in a few games by delivering match-winning spells.
3. 3/20 for Rajasthan Royals (RR) vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2021
In 2021, the Bangla bowler played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after a gap of three years. This time, Rajasthan Royals believed in him by buying him at the amount of INR 1 crore, and in the 28th match of the tournament against the SRH, he was included in the playing XI to reinforce the team’s bowling line-up with other bowlers such as Chris Morris, Kartik Tyagi, and Chetan Sakariya.
In the game, RR batters put up a colossal score of 220, and to achieve that, SRH had to deliver extraordinary performance by subduing the bowling line-up of RR. Chasing the giant total, the opening batters Manish Pandey and Jonny Bairstow started swiftly by racking up 57 in six overs. But it was Mustafizur who spoiled their endeavour by sending Pandey back to the pavilion on the 31.
Later he also bagged the wicket of Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan to put more pressure on his old IPL team. With the regular fall of wickets, SRH never looked anywhere in the contest and gave up the match by scoring only 165/8. In RR’s 55-run triumph, Mustafizur was their best bowler due to his bowling effort of 3/20 in four overs.
