What will happen if CSK gets eliminated from IPL 2025?

2. Fourth time missing playoffs qualification

This will mark the fourth season of CSK’s absence from the IPL playoffs if they don't qualify. Before this, they missed the playoff spot in 2020, 2022, and 2024. Apart from that, the team has always qualified for the playoffs. They have also played in ten finals and won five of them. 

Under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, CSK failed to qualify only once—in 2020. In 2022, Ravindra Jadeja captained the side for half of the tournament, and then Dhoni had to retake the captaincy after Jadeja’s injury. This year, a similar incident occurred, where Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the tournament due to injury, and Dhoni is back.
