10 Best victories of Bangladesh in cricket history
There have been times when Bangladesh achieved the unthinkable on the cricket field.
9. Bangladesh vs Australia, 2005 Natwest Series
England hosted Australia and Bangladesh for a tri-series in 2005. Fans expected the series to be a two-way battle as the Bangla Tigers were known to struggle against the top-ranked nations. But Habibul Bashar & co. set the tournament on fire by conquering the mighty Australia who were the reigning World Champions at that time.
In the second match of the series, Australia batted first and posted a par total of 249 for 5 riding on Damien Martyn‘s gritty knock of 72 runs off 112 deliveries. It was never going to be an easy task for Bangladesh in front of a fierce pace attack comprising Glenn McGrath, Jason Gillespie, and Michael Kasprowicz.
During the chase, Bangladesh were in a tough situation at 72 for 3. But Mohammad Ashraful (100 runs off 101 balls) played an innings of a lifetime with skipper Bashar (47 runs off 72 balls) providing support to put their side in a strong position. Aftab Ahmed (21* runs off 13 balls) gave the late flourish to seal the game for the side in the final over.
