Matthew Wade has been a match-winner for Australia in the shortest format. He has featured in 75 T20Is and hammered 1018 runs at a strike rate of 132.03. However, the southpaw has not had the same success in Test cricket and has managed only 1613 runs in 36 matches at an average of 29.87.

Wade last donned the national colours in the Test arena in the 2020-2021 Test series against India. He was quite dismal with the bat in the series and scored mere 173 runs in four games at an average of 21.62. The wicketkeeper-batter has not been part of Australia’s Test side since then.

Wade has prioritized the shortest format and has given up on the rest of the formats. It does not appear that the wicketkeeper-batter will be pushing for a Test comeback in the near future. Therefore, he might hang his boots in the longest format of the game this year.
