Since gaining full membership of ICC in 2000, Bangladesh Cricket has prospered well and is making a lot of noise across all the formats with its performance. Over the years, Bangladesh cricketers have shot to fame with their impressive performances in international cricket. From a personal perspective, some married the love of their lives, while others were lucky to find the right partners in an arranged marriage. Some Bangladesh cricketers are blessed with understanding and beautiful wives, who are quite popular among fans. Among them, some are housemakers, while few are handling cricketers’ businesses or are in charge of their own companies. Here are the ten most popular Bangladesh cricketers & their wives: 10. Taskin Ahmed & Syeda Rabeya Naima Taskin Ahmed is one of the most experienced pacers in Bangladesh cricket. So far, he has bagged a total of 120 wickets across all formats and is a consistent contributor. He is one of the 15 members of the Bangladesh T20 World Cup 2022 squad as well. Taskin’s wife’s name is Syeda Rabeya Naima, who studied Economics at the American International University. Interestingly, Taskin also studied at the same university as well. They both got married in October 2017. According to reports, both had dated each other for seven years, before tying the knot. They have a son named, Tashfeen Ahmed Rihan. 9. Soumya Sarkar & Priyonti Debnath Puja The prolific left-hander of the Bangladesh team, Soumya Sarkar has provided great starts to the team in the last decade. His cameos have set up the chase or helped the team to post a strong target on the board on numerous occasions. Overall, he has 3,762 runs across all formats, with three centuries. Soumya’s wife, Priyonti Debnath Puja completed her ‘O’ level examination, before getting married in 2020. The couple has been together for the last five years and lives in Khulna, one of the largest cities in the country. Soumya was added to the Bangladesh T20 World Cup 2022 squad replacing Sabbir Rahman at the last moment. It will be interesting to see if he can help Bangladesh go deep in the tournament or not. 8. Mustafizur Rahman & Samia Parvin Mustafizur Rahman has been one of the finest fast bowlers for Bangladesh in recent years. His wicket-taking ability is second to none and is well known for deceiving the batters with his cutters, slower balls and yorkers. In total, he has picked up 264 wickets across all formats, with six five-fors. In 2019, Mustafizur married Samia Parvin, who studied psychology at Dhaka University. Interestingly, Samia is Rahman’s maternal cousin. The family decided to tie their knot after the Bangladesh team, including Mustafizur, escaped the Christchurch bombings. The 27-year-old is a key strike bowler for the Bangla Tigers and will be looking to deliver his best in the ongoing T20 World Cup as well. He will lead the pace bowling unit and the Bangladesh fans will expect him to come good in the tournament. 7. Mahmuduallah & Annatul Kawsar Mishti Mahmudullah has been one of the legendary players to have played for Bangladesh in international cricket. With close to 10,000 runs and 162 wickets across all three formats, the all-rounder has been a terrific performer for the national side. Furthermore, the 36-year-old has led the side in many matches as well. The star cricketer’s wife’s name is Annatul Kawsar Mishti, who graduated with a BBA degree. The couple got married in June 2011, and have two sons named, Raeed and Mayed. Currently, Annatul is a housewife. In 2021, Mahmdullah retired from the Test format, while he has not been picked up in the T20 World Cup 2022 squad due to his lacklustre performance in 2022. He is a regular member of the Bangla Tigers in the ODI set-up. 6. Sabbir Rahman and Maliha Tasnim Sabbir Rahman made his white-ball debut in 2014, and played his maiden Test match in 2016. He has garnered a total of 2,791 runs across all three formats, with a single century. Sabbir Rahman’s wife name is Maliha Tasnim. After being together for five years, the couple tied the knot in 2019. Interestingly, during their marriage, Tasnim was still studying for a graduate degree. In a career marred with controversies and bans, Sabbir was named in the Asia Cup 2022 and T20 World Cup 2022 squads. However, he was dropped from the T20 World Cup squad due to ordinary performances. 5. Mashrafe Mortaza and Sumona Haque Sumi The former captain Mashrafe Mortaza had an illustrious international career, which lasted 19 years until 2020. He finished with 389 wickets combined across formats, which is the second-highest by any Bangladesh player. Furthermore, Mortaza led the team across all formats and instilled a fighting spirit in the players. Mortaza married Sumona Haque Sumi, who is born in West Bengal (India). She started her career as an independent fashion designer and has worked for various companies. As per reports, Sumona runs a fashion outlet in Dhaka. The couple married in 2006, and have two children, one son, and a daughter. Their son’s name is Sahil while their daughter's name is Humaira. 4. Tamim Iqbal and Ayesha Siddiqui One of the most prolific batters in Bangladesh cricket, Tamim Iqbal started his international career in 2007. He is now the top-scorer for Bangla Tigers across all the formats with 14857 runs, with 93 fifties and 25 centuries. Ayesha Siddiqui is the wife of the top-order batter. According to reports, Tamim proposed to Ayesha at an age of 16, and faced rejection, but soon they came together. After eight years of being together, both got married in 2013. They have two children, a son named Arham, and a daughter named Alishba. Tamim has captained Bangladesh in ODIs, with wins in 16 out of 27 games. 3. Mushfiqur Rahim and Jannatul Kifayet Mushfiqur Rahim has been the most successful keeper in Bangladesh's cricketing history, with 427 dismissals in 420 international games. He ranks second in Bangladesh's overall batting charts with 13509 runs, comprising 91 fifties and 14 centuries. Rahim got married to Jannatul Kifayet in 2014. Interestingly, Jannatul is the sister of Mahmudullah’s wife, and they both met at the all-rounder’s (Mahmudullah) wedding. Jannatul has studied Business Studies. In 2018, the pair was blessed with a baby boy, who they named Mohammad Shahroj Rahim Mayan. In September 2022, Rahim announced his retirement from T20Is to focus on the other two formats. 2. Litton Das and Devashri Biswas A consistent run-scorer at the top of the order, Litton Das is a crucial cog in the Bangladesh unit in white as well as in red-ball cricket. So far, he has scored over 5,000 runs in 152 games with 28 fifties and eight centuries. Litton married Devashri Biswas after the 2019 50-overs World Cup. Devashri studied MBA at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. According to multiple reports, she is currently a farmer. Over the years, Litton has become the first-choice opener of the Bangla Tigers' batting unit. He is heading into T20 World Cup 2022 with runs in his kitty and form on his side. 1. Shakib Al Hasan and Umme Ahmed Shishir Arguably the most successful Bangladesh cricketer of all time, Shakib Al Hasan has 13205 runs and 632 wickets across all formats. Shakib has a beautiful wife, Umme Ahmed Shishir, who is quite popular among the fans as well. At an age of ten, Umme shifted to the United States and completed her graduation. She then moved to the United Kingdom for further studies, where she met Shakib, who was playing County Cricket in 2010. The pair dated each other and finally got married in 2012. They have three children, two girls, Alayna Hasan and Errum, while their son is named Eyzah. Recently, Shakib took over as the captain of the Bangladesh T20I team and will lead them in the T20 World Cup 2022.
