9. Najmul Hossain Shanto
Najmul Hossain Shanto is playing his first World and will also handle the vice-captaincy. The 25-year-old made his ODI debut in 2018 against Afghanistan but missed out on making it to the 2019 squad. He is left left-handed batter and can bowl off spin to good effect.
With Bangladesh cricket under controversies of Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan’s stand, the country will expect a lot from their new vice-captain. So far he has an experience of 30 games in which he has scored 908 runs with an average of above 31. It will be important for the team to hold one end and not allow wickets to fall in the middle overs.
Bangladesh have had their moments in the past in this marquee tournament but they have never reached the Semi Finals. They qualified for the quarter-final in 2015 and defeated India and South Africa in 2007. This time in his first tournament Shanto will carry a lot of burden to finally take the team to the Semi Finals.
