6. New Zealand players console Carlos Brathwaite after an amazing knock
New Zealand clashed with West Indies in Manchester in an epic match. Batting first, the Kiwis posted 291/8 in 50 overs. Kane Williamson top-scored with 148 and Ross Taylor made 69.
For the West Indies, Sheldon Cottrell took 4/56. In response, Chris Gayle started well for West Indies with an 87-run knock. But New Zealand fought back by chipping in with wickets at regular intervals.
Shimron Hetmyer made 54 runs, but it was Carlos Brathwaite, whose maiden ODI century kept West Indies in the game till the end. He made 101 in 82 balls with 5 sixes and 9 fours, as West Indies fell agonizingly short by just five runs, scoring 286 runs. After the match, Brathwaite looked shattered and was on his knees in disappointment, but New Zealand players came up to him and consoled him and praised his magnificent knock.
