Rohit Sharma had a dream run in the 2019 World Cup. He ended up as the highest run-getter in the tournament with 648 runs in 9 matches. During his mega event campaign, Sharma ended up smashing one fifty and a record 5 centuries.

Notably, against the arch-rivals Pakistan, his highest score was 140. The Hitman with his five tons, broke Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara’s record of most centuries in a single edition of a World Cup. Sangakkara had scored 4 centuries in the 2015 World Cup.

This also turned out to be the last outing for the Lankan legend in international cricket. Rohit Sharma went one better and ended with five tons to his name. The Indian opener scored 140 against Pakistan, 122* against South Africa, 104 against Bangladesh, 103 against Sri Lanka, and 102 against England, respectively.
