“The best thing would be to get India-Pakistan matches here. When Sharjah used to host India and Pakistan all those years ago, it was like a war. But it was a good war, it was a sporting war and it was fantastic. If we can convince India to come and play here against Pakistan once a year or twice a year, it would be fantastic,” Abdul Rahman Falaknaz, the Chairman of the Dubai Cricket Council, had said.

His comments came in after India lost the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/most-wickets-in-t20-world-cup/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">T20 World Cup</a> fixture against Pakistan in 2021 when the marquee event was hosted in UAE due to the COVID-19 conditions all over the world.

“The matches would attract big crowds in the UK, which has a large ex-pat south Asian population. The matches attract huge sponsorship revenue and television audiences,” the newspaper quoted the reason behind ECB’s generous offerings.
