Smrit Mandhana scored a century in December 2024. Ever since then, she came close to century but kept getting dismissed in 70s and 80s. As India took on Ireland in the third ODI at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on January 15, Mandhana was on song. She opened the batting with Pratika Rawal and was part of a massive 233-run stand for the first wicket. Mandhana made use the batting conditions really well and accelerated after starting slow as she reached her century in 70 balls, making her the fastest to score a ton among other India women batters.
