The Indian team has been one of the most successful sides in recent times; whether that be in T20I, Test, or ODIs, the Men in Blue have given their fans some of the best moments in recent years. Through mega stars in the side like MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and many more, team India has been one of the most dominant sides in world cricket.
However, no amount of dominance of team India has come close to their recent performances in Test cricket. Staying at the top of the ICC rankings for several years, India has been one of the best performers of the longest format. Reaching back-to-back World Test Championship finals, the side is looking set for their third WTC final.
Although the team seems to have hit a slight roadblock. Taking on New Zealand at home, India have lost the first two Tests of the series, and seeing their form, the side looks set for a historic Test series loss as the Black Caps are looking for a whitewash. Talking of the same, let us have a look at three instances when India failed to win a single Test match in a home series
1. South Africa (2000)
One of the latest instances where the Indian team lost a Test series at home and failed to win even a single Test match was against South Africa, way back in 2000. The Proteas defeated India 2-0 in a bilateral Test series at home.
The opening Test of the series was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Proteas managed to defeat the hosts by four wickets in the first Test. Despite losing the clash, Sachin Tendulkar won the Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
Furthermore, the second game of the series was played in Bengaluru, where the visiting South African side managed to completely outclass India, defeating them by an innings and 71 runs.
