2. India Vs Bangladesh, Nidahas Trophy 2018 Tri-Series Final at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo

In the 2018 Nidahas Trophy 2018, the Bangladesh cricket team were playing the final against India. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first. While batting first, Bangladesh scored a competitive 166/8. Sabbir Rahman’s 77 off 50 deliveries and Mehidy Hasan Mirza’s cameo knock of 19 from 7 balls played a pivotal role to set a challenging target of 167 runs.

Pursuing the target of 167, Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina departed early, but the partnership between Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul stabilised the innings. After the dismissal of the skipper Rohit Sharma, Bangladesh came back into the match. The tight bowling from the bowlers prevented Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar from going ballistic.

But it was Dinesh Karthik, who came into the scene and played some exquisite strokes in the last couple of overs of the game. Karthik attacked Rubel Hossain in the 19th over. With 2 fours and 2 sixes, Karthik turned the match in India’s favour. In the final ball of the innings, India needed 4 to win but Bangladesh again failed to hold their nerves as Karthik’s six over the covers helped Rohit and his boys to clinch the trophy.
