England all-rounder Sam Curran hit the headlines for becoming the most expensive player in the history of IPL, receiving a humongous amount of INR 18.50 crore at the 2023 auction held in Kochi. PBKS invested a huge amount in Curran after watching his exceptional bowling display in the T20 World Cup 2022.

In the cash-rich league, the young English stalwart scalped only ten wickets in 14 outings at a terrible economy of 10.22. With the bat, he piled up 276 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of 135.96. After buying Curran at a massive sum, Kings were expecting Curran to deliver extraordinary numbers.

However, the 25-year-old failed to do wonders with both bat and ball and now, he is likely to be on the list of Punjab’s released players before the IPL 2023 auction. Curran put up a disastrous performance with the ball in massive cricketing competitions played in 2023 such as The Hundred 2023 and World Cup 2023. His current form might shake PBKS’s confidence in him.
