The auction took place at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25.
A staggering 577 cricketers registered themselves for the IPL 2025 auctions. The list included 367 Indians and 210 overseas players. The auction took place at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25. The mega auctions which transpired for two days, saw teams splurge amounts on the key player who could add value to their campaign.
Among these players, there were players who had been out of action for a long time. Some even just have made a comeback to their national sides. These players, who have proved their mettle against the best in the world would surely fit the bill for several teams given their injury concerns will not haunt them again. These three players have been seasoned campaigners in the IPL for years now.
Here are 3 players who might not feature in IPL 2025 due to injury:
3. Anrich Nortje
Anrich Nortje led the pace-bowling attack for the Delhi Capital from 2020 to 2023. He incurred an injury in September 2023 and subsequently missed the ODI series at home against Australia, the home series against India and also the second edition of SA20. He played only 10 games for DC in IPL 2023 and left the side to get back home for personal reasons.
In IPL 2024 for DC, he played only six games picking just seven wickets and an expensive economy rate of 13.36. He was released ahead of the IPL 2025 auction and was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for 6.5 crore. Nortje will be key in leading the pace attack with the likes of Spencer Johnson, Vaibhav Arora, and Umran Malik, given he is fully fit. His fitness was under scanner after he was smashed all over the park in the edition which was dominated by batters.
