2. Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer has been a run-bank for India across formats. ODI cricket has been his happy hunting ground and amassed 1631 runs in 42 matches at a strike rate of 96.50. Talking about the T20 format, he has scored 1043 runs in 49 games at a strike rate of 135.98
Iyer was quite phenomenal in the year 2022 and accumulated 724 runs in 17 ODIs at a strike rate of 91.52. Courtesy of his consistent showings, he has become a regular feature in India’s 50-over set-up. However, the ace batter was not at his prolific best in the recently culminated three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka and scored just 94 runs in three games.
Iyer was included in the ODI series against New Zealand but he has been ruled of the 50-over leg due to a back injury and Rajat Patidar has been named as his replacement. It remains to be seen whether Shreyas will be able to recover before the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.
