The skilful pacer spread his wings in international cricket with impressive performances in the ODI format. He was the consistent wicket-taker for the team in the powerplay and used variations well to deceive the batters in the death overs as well.
In this debut ODI fixture, Mortaza opened the bowling for the team and picked two wickets. Soon, he cemented his place in the ODI setup after being economical enough and taking wickets in crunch moments, especially against Australia and Zimbabwe. The last 50-over outing witnessed him returning with a single wicket against Zimbabwe.
However, with 218 appearances, he sits in the fourth position in terms of the number of ODI appearances for Bangladesh. The wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim tops the list with 236 matches, followed by Tamim Iqbal (231) and Shakib (221).
